"Open-source technology offers competitiveness and savings, boosts the economy, promotes knowledge and makes us more transparent", said Unai Rementeria, a representative of the Presidency, in his conference held today at LibreCon together with Jim Whitehurst, President of Red Hat, the world leader in free software.
The open-source technology sector in Biscay has a turnover of 850 million euros per year, and the 40 companies associated to ESLE employ 1,500 people in the province.
Rementeria underlined the importance of having a strategic world partner like Red Hat and trusts that this relationship will lead to new beneficial projects for Biscay.
